For more gentle adventures there’s Forgotten World Adventures - a well-known option that runs a variety of activities from exploring the local countryside and tunnels via repurposed golf carts on old railway lines to jet boat and helicopter rides. Then of course there is the famous Tongariro crossing, Mt Ruapehu Skiing and Snowboarding, The Waitomo Caves are just an hour north with Taupo to the East. Taumarunui is really a fantastic central location in which to base yourself so you and your group can experience all the Central North Island has to offer. You can also explore adventures of the mind with Alice your host where you can undertake short Mindfulness courses and intriguing Craft workshops covering a range of different skills . Soft Adventures

Local Bush and River Walks

Ask Alice when you arrive about the variety of local walks. From ambling along beside the river to enjoy a brisk walk to the top of bush-clad hills ( 400 meters away) you can get out and about in nature at the drop of a hat.

The Tongariro Crossing

This falls somewhere between hard and soft adventure. It’s the experience of a lifetime but it does require a
